Last week, May 13-17 every student in our school entered the library and got a surprise! Instead of borrowing books, the all got to choose 10 free brand-new books to take home to read over the summer and keep forever.
Our district’s grant brought Book Harvest’s Books on Break program to every elementary school in the district this spring. Books on Break is a joyful, exciting way to help students build their home libraries and provide students with brand-new books to help them practice their reading all summer long.
Reading books during summer helps your child continue building the reading skills they have been working on all school year so that when they return to school they are ready to start at their next grade level.
We encourage you to work with your child(ren) to set up a daily reading routine throughout the summer.
Summer is a wonderful time to fall in love with reading and enjoy books together as a family!
