Welcome to Junaluska Elementary School! We are excited about beginning a great school year for 2016-2017. I am proud and honored to be the principal of such a dynamic learning community. We are the mighty eagles where every student is a winner through programs of excellence. Our school is a K-5 school with an enrollment of approximately 440 students.
We pride ourselves in being a school where students are excited about coming to school each day to study and thrive in a family atmosphere. Our staff works and plans well together while challenging each other to be innovative and energetic. This philosophy promotes new ideas and opportunities for students. Thank you for trusting us to educate your child. Our goal is to see that every child succeeds and is provided the best educational environment while maintaining your valued support.
Being in school and arriving on time every day means your child won’t miss our planned learning experiences. Please try to schedule appointments and family trips outside of school hours. Absences should only be for days when he/she is sick or for family emergencies. We miss our students when they are away from school.
One of our key school efforts is to challenge our students to become stronger readers through daily independent reading at home and school. Look for your child’s reading log nightly and help us to increase our “reading muscles” by increasing our volume of reading everyday.
We are excited about recent community efforts to assist our school. Faith Community Church members, along with several staff members and their families, rolled up their sleeves and made our “Day of Service” on August 13, 2016 successful by spreading mulch on the playgrounds, weeding the flowerbeds, and trimming shrubbery.
We value our parents, volunteers, and P.T. A. Please feel free to become involved in volunteer opportunities at our school. We welcome you to our school and are delighted to work with your children each day!
