Friday, September 8, was International Literacy Day. Junaluska Elementary School could not have celebrated it any better than without the help of Mrs. Libby Kinsey. Mrs. Libby is part of a group from Michigan who come to the Lake Junaluska Assembly Conference Center with the Church of the Brethren for an annual conference. In March of 2015, the group wanted to work on a service project for a local school located near Lake Junaluska and contacted Principal, Sherri Arrington. By September of the same year, the Church of the Brethren had donated over 400 books for classroom libraries. Mrs. Libby personally continued to contribute to Junaluska Elementary by providing more than 3,000 books over the course of the next two years!!! On Thursday, September 7, Mrs. Libby invited Mrs. Arrington, Mrs. Thompson, Assistant Principal, and Title 1 Staff to be recognized at the Lake Junaluska Assembly Conference Center during this year’s conference for the Church of the Brethren. At that time, Mrs. Libby presented Junaluska Elementary School with over 1,200 more books for classrooms! We are so thankful for Mrs. Libby and her friends for all she has done to promote literacy at our school. Thank you, Mrs. Libby!!!
