Dear Parents & Families,
I wanted share a few items related to the Governor’s announcement on Friday, April 24, 2020 to not reopen schools for the rest of this school year. Friday’s announcement was sad news. Many of us here at Junaluska Elementary were holding on the possibility that school might start back. We know how difficult things have been for parents and families. Many of us have school age children ourselves and recognize the challenges to remote learning, while still working in or out of the home. We appreciate all that you have done to facilitate remote learning. We could not have done it without you.
As we continue into May, I want to encourage you to stay engaged and connected to your child’s class and teacher. Everything we do will help your child for next school year. Sometimes we have to remember the bigger picture. This is one of those times. We are doing everything we can in these times of remote learning activities to help us be ready for next school year.
The buildings may be closed but schools are still open for learning. So let’s keep our children working on activities throughout the math. As of today, we do not yet have a plan to collect completed school work and when we do, I will share it with you.
We miss seeing and teaching your children, please tell them that. We look forward to the regular routines of the school day as we know you do as well. Until then, we are here for you in different ways than usual. If we can do anything for you, please don’t hesitate to call.
Thank you and take care,
Alex Masciarelli
